With over 18,000 employees, the global dairy powerhouse Arla Foods, needed HR processes to run smoothly, consistently, and to continue to do so at scale. SuccessFactors was chosen for its well-known capabilities, ease of use, and scalable structure. But like all enterprise software roll-outs, achieving adoption was not so simple.
Arla Foods experienced the common digital adoption challenges, even after the massive investment in excellent software:
- Employee frustration
- Repetitive errors
- Time-consuming processes
- IT support burden
As a company that values its employee experience and organizational efficiency tremendously, the team at Arla Foods was able to quickly diagnose their digital adoption problem and decided to launch WalkMe’s Digital Adoption Platform to resolve it. Here’s what happened.
Scaling up while staying connected
Nikolaj Petersen, Arla Foods Global Head of Business Change Management, Communication, and Performance, sought to implement a more standardized, self-service global recruitment process, as it had become a key focus for the executive leadership. Arla Foods is the fourth largest dairy company in the world and is cooperatively owned by over 9,7000 farmers.
The goal of the self-service implementation of SuccessFactors was to create scalable processes while easing reliance on support and ensuring GDPR compliance.
“This new change was about standardizing internally while trying to humanize externally,”
– Nikolaj Petersen
Instead of bringing the massive workforce closer, the SuccessFactors roll-out was actually forcing the HR staff to manage and fix the constant flow of errors. User frustration was at an all-time high. It was time for a digital adoption solution.
“If we wanted to keep self-service as a tool, we had to find a way to alleviate the frustration and shorten the time users were spending in the system,” says Petersen.
Finally a solution that works
Before turning to WalkMe, Arla Foods tried an alternative platform, but the full scope of digital adoption was not achieved. Despite a failed first attempt at solving the problem, the leadership at Arla Foods knew they could do it with the right solution, and so they enlisted WalkMe to tackle the adoption of SuccessFactors.
With WalkMe they were able to achieve:
- Fewer data entry errors in SuccessFactors
- Improved employee engagement and productivity
- Reduction in support burden and time spent performing back-office tasks
“We want our employees to focus on our core business activities and not multiple HR processes and procedures,” says Petersen. “And WalkMe helps us do just that.”
