This Section specifies the privacy and data retention practices in connection with the WalkMe Site. For information regarding WalkMe Mobile, Visions or the WalkMe System please see relevant Section(s). For a complete view of privacy practices relevant to you, please also read the General Section.

a.    What Information May We Collect on Users of the Site and How?

WalkMe collects the email addresses and login credentials of people who communicate with WalkMe via email, create accounts or post a public question on the Site Blogs. When you post content on or through the Site by way of public posts or survey information etc., any Personal Information you post may be viewed by others. When you provide us with information voluntarily by uploading it to the website or email us or contact us in any other way, we retain such information.

When you use our Site, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit our website (“Log Data”). Such information may include IP addresses, browser type, referral URL’s, language information, the domain from which you are visiting and additional information with respect to your usage and browsing of the Site. Except as described in this Privacy Policy, we do not use this information to personally identify you, but rather use it to monitor the use of the Site, including, but not limited to:  administering the Site; determining which users have access privilege to certain content, services or resources that the Company offers; estimating and reporting total audience size and traffic; helping combat fraud and abuse; and providing analytics and reporting with respect to the use of the Site.

As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically. This information may include Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, the files viewed on our site (e.g., HTML pages, graphics, etc.), operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data to analyze trends.

When you use the Site through the mobile application, we automatically collect information on the type of device you use operating system version.

We do not ask for, access or track any location-based information from your mobile device at any time while downloading or using our mobile app (excluding the WalkMe Mobile services – see details in the relevant Section about WalkMe Mobile).

We use mobile analytics software to allow us to better understand the functionality of our Mobile Software on your phone. This software may record information such as how often you use the application, the events that occur within the application, aggregated usage, performance data, and where the application was downloaded from. We do not link the information we store within the analytics software to any Personal Information you submit within the mobile application.

b.    What are the Purposes of the Collection of Information from the Users of the Site?

Our primary goals in collecting Personal Information are to provide you with the services made available through the Site, including but not limited to communicating with you and providing you with support and information.

WalkMe uses the information it collects from you to provide Customers and other Users with the services rendered on the Site and continuously enhance your user experience. Generally speaking, we use the collected information to communicate with you, fulfill your requests, customize the content, improve our products and services, protect our and your rights, and comply with laws and regulations.

WalkMe may use your Personal Information to send you promotional information and updates regarding WalkMe and its products and services. We may use your information to tailor advertisements to suit your interests and needs. You may choose not to receive such information and opt-out of such future communications. All such communications sent to you will contain the instructions for opting-out. If you would like to discontinue receiving promotional and updates regarding WalkMe and its products and services, you may do so by using the “unsubscribe” link found at the bottom of the emails we send to.

In addition to these optional email messages, WalkMe may contact you via any email address you provide to us with transactional or relationship messages such as account status messages, security updates or notifications of changes in the terms of your account or the WalkMe Service. These types of transactional or relationship email messages are not optional.

c.    Sharing Information gathered through the Site with Third Parties

WalkMe may disclose Personal Information collected through the Site only in the following cases: (a) to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, subpoena or governmental request; (b) to provide Customers with information gathered through the Service by WalkMe on Customer’s behalf; (c) to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, breach of this policy, security or technical issues; (d) to respond to User’s support requests; (e) to respond to claims that any content available on the server violates the rights of third-parties; (f) to respond to claims that Personal Information (e.g. name, e-mail address, etc.) of a third-party has been posted or transmitted without consent or as a form of harassment; (g) to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of WalkMe, its Users, or the general public; (h) when WalkMe is undergoing any change in control, including by means of merger, acquisition or purchase of all or substantially all of its assets; (i) to collect, hold and/or manage your Personal Information through WalkMe’s authorized affiliates and third party service providers (for example, Amazon Web Services in the United States.), solely in connection with the services and Site and subject to confidentiality agreement not less stringent than the obligations of WalkMe under this Privacy Policy. Service providers are authorized to use your Personal Information only as necessary to provide these services to us. Such service provider may be located in a country that does not have the same data protection laws as your jurisdiction. When WalkMe transfers data to service provider, we seek when practical to transfer data only upon executing an appropriate agreement and/or after the certification of the service provider under the E.U.-U.S. Privacy Shield and/or with service providers that are located in a country recognized by the E.U. Council as providing an adequate protection; or (j) pursuant to your explicit approval prior to the disclosure.

Please be aware that information you provide to us or that we obtain as a result of your use of the Site may be processed and transferred in all countries in which WalkMe has offices and operations and be subject to various applicable laws. This information may also be processed by staff working for us or for one of our suppliers. The privacy and data protection laws in such countries may not be equivalent to the laws in your country of residence. By using our Site, or by providing us with your information, you consent to this collection, transfer, storage, and processing of information to and in such countries. 

d.    Modification or Deletion of Personal Information Gathered Trough the Site

Upon request, WalkMe will provide you with information about whether we hold any of your Personal Information. A User may have a legal right under certain applicable laws (for instance if the User is an E.U. citizen) or under Controller’s (as defined in the General Section) privacy policy to receive, rectify, erase, and restrict Personal Information about them that is held by us, to object to processing and, if processing occurs based on consent, to withdraw their consent. Users may also have the right to withdraw consent for processing for statistical and research purposes.

If, for any reason, a User wishes to modify, delete or retrieve his/her Personal Information, s/he may do so by contacting the applicable Controller (as defined in the General Section) (e.g. the provider of the platform on which the WalkMe System is operating). The Controller shall perform the necessary process to identify the User as a User who has a the right to retrieve the specific information and then furnish to WalkMe the data required to be amended, deleted or retrieved together with a specific identification of the User and data (as shall be applicable for the specific Service provided and the requested data – for instance IP address and time of uploading the information to WalkMe’s servers (IP address is not enough for an identification of User or data)). WalkMe cannot retrieve data without a specific identification of User and data. WalkMe may not be able to delete, amend or retrieve User’s information without the Controller’s instructions and authorization.

Please note that Personal Information may be either deleted or retained in an aggregated manner, without being linked to any identifiers or Personal Information, depending on technical commercial capability, including without limitation by setting the last octet of IPv4 user IP addresses such that it cannot be linked to any identifiers of the User. Such information may continue to be used by WalkMe for the purpose of operating the Service.

For any request or question regarding deletion or amendment of User data, you can contact us at the contact details listed in the General Section and we shall make efforts to respond and support your request. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

WalkMe will retain data it processes on behalf of its Clients only for as long as required to provide the Services to its Client and as necessary to comply with its legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce its agreements. For Users of the Site which are not Users of any other Service, the Information gathered through the Site shall not be retained for more than 7 years (for backup and litigation purposes).

e.    Tracking, Cookies & Passive Collection through the Site

WalkMe and its partners use cookies or similar technologies to analyze trends, administer the Site, track users’ movements around the Site, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. You can control the use of cookies at the individual browser level, but if you choose to disable cookies, it may limit your use of certain features or functions on our website or Service.

In addition, WalkMe uses cookies with the Site for storing users’ settings (e.g. language preference), authentication, and improving the user experience on our website. Users can control the use of cookies at the individual browser level. If you reject cookies, you may still use our website, but your ability to use some features or areas of our website may be limited.

Some web browsers may transmit Do Not Track signals to websites with which the browser communicates, telling the site not to follow its online movements. Because of differences in how web browsers interpret this feature, it is not always clear whether Users intend for these signals to be transmitted, or whether they are even aware of them. Therefore, we currently do not respond to such Do Not Track signals.

We partner with a third party to either display advertising on our Site or to manage our advertising on other sites. Our third-party partner may use technologies such as cookies to gather information about your activities on this website and other sites in order to provide you with advertising based upon your browsing activities and interests. If you wish not to have this information used for the purpose of serving you interest-based ads, you may opt-out by clicking here (or if located in the European Union click here). Please note that this does not opt you out of being served ads. You will continue to receive generic ads.

f.     Third-Party Software/Service

We may use third-party software and/or services in order to collect and/or process the information detailed herein. Such software includes without limitation: Google Analytics (for collecting statistical data about the Site) which privacy policy can be found at: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy and Google Cloud (for data storage) which privacy policy can be found at: https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/gsutil/addlhelp/SecurityandPrivacyConsiderations.

g.    Third-Party Links and Widgets

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include links to third parties. Be sure to read the privacy policies, supplemental notices, and settings of all websites or platforms that you visit so you can understand their privacy practices and your options. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our Site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

Our website includes social media features, such as the Facebook Like button, and widgets, such as the Share This button that run on our website. These features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on the Site, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our Site. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.
